BASF, Ineos Offer EU Antitrust Fixes On Styrene Deal

Law360, New York (May 13, 2011, 4:49 PM EDT) -- BASF SE and Ineos Industries Holdings Ltd. proposed antitrust fixes Wednesday to European Union regulators examining the chemical makers' bid to turn their styrene businesses into a joint venture.

The European Commission extended its deadline to review the transaction until June 1 based on commitments offered by two of the world's largest chemicals companies. The commission did not provide any detail about the companies' proposed antitrust commitments and representatives for BASF and Ineos were not immediately available for comment Friday.
