U.S. Releases Rules For $9B In Clean Energy Loans

Law360, New York (May 10, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Energy has released its proposed rules governing the offer of $9 billion in loan guarantees to clean energy projects, offering borrowers debt protection of up to 90%.

In its notice of proposed rulemaking published Thursday, the federal energy department said it would issue guarantees covering up to 80% of the total cost of an approved project.

The DOE sought congressional approval in a 2008 budget request to offer $9 billion in loan guarantees to environmentally friendly energy technology projects.
