New Regs Focus On Accommodating Disabled Workers

Law360, New York (May 23, 2011, 6:50 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission's final regulations implementing the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act become effective Tuesday, underscoring the need for companies to focus on their obligation to provide reasonable accommodations to workers who claim to be disabled.

Both the ADAAA — which took effect on Jan. 1, 2009 — and the final regulations aim to make it easier for workers to show that they are disabled, and thus entitled to coverage under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
