Ex-Ohio Judge, Feds Spar Over Corruption Evidence

Law360, New York (May 16, 2011, 3:47 PM EDT) -- Defense lawyers fired back Monday at prosecutors seeking to exclude character evidence in the bribery and corruption trial of a former Ohio county judge, arguing that facts about the defendant’s public service were relevant to the case.

Lawyers for Steven Terry told an Ohio federal court in a motion that, contrary to the government’s claims, the defense had no intention of proving Terry’s “good guy” status in an effort to distract the jury.
