Genzyme Sues Allergan Over Juvederm Gel IP

Law360, New York (May 16, 2011, 9:11 PM EDT) -- Genzyme Corp. sued Allergan Inc. in Massachusetts on Monday for allegedly violating a patent covering a soft-tissue augmentation method with its line of Juvederm wrinkle-smoothing injectable gels.

Genzyme, a global biotech giant based in Cambridge, Mass., is seeking to block Allergan from manufacturing and selling its Juvederm products, after the Irvine, Calif., company rejected a licensing agreement to use the patent.
