NM Judge Suspended After Bribery Indictment

Law360, New York (May 17, 2011, 2:47 PM EDT) -- The New Mexico Supreme Court reportedly suspended a state judge on Monday after he was indicted on bribery and other charges for allegedly paying $4,000 for his seat on the bench.

Judge Michael Murphy was indicted Friday, accused of paying former Gov. Bill Richardson for his appointment and of telling another judicial candidate, Beverly Singleman, that if she wanted a similar position she should make contributions to Edgar Lopez, a Democratic activist and friend of the ex-governor, according to a report by the Associated Press....
