Brazil Convicts US Pilots In Air Collision Case

Law360, New York (May 17, 2011, 2:33 PM EDT) -- A Brazilian judge reportedly sentenced two U.S. pilots Monday to more than four years of community service, ruling that their negligence contributed to a plane collision that killed 154 people in 2006.

Judge Murilo Mendes sentenced Joseph Lepore and Jan Paladino in absentia to four years and four months in prison, but suspended their sentences to community service in the U.S., BBC News reported Tuesday.
