France Unveils Guidance On Antitrust Fines

Law360, San Francisco (May 18, 2011, 1:31 PM EDT) -- France's competition watchdog on Tuesday issued new guidance on the method by which the regulator will determine financial penalties intended to punish antitrust infringements and to deter market players from breaking the law.

The Autorite de la Concurrence, France's national competition regulator, said it published the method by which it sets fines in cases of cartels and abuses of dominance in order to provide upfront guidance on which parties can rely when arguing their case before the agency.
