NRC Rightly Relicensed NJ Nuke Plant: 3rd Circ.

Law360, New York (May 18, 2011, 3:32 PM EDT) -- The Third Circuit ruled Wednesday that the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission properly relicensed a nuclear power plant in New Jersey, and that recent damage to nuclear facilities in Japan did not support a possible shutdown of the plant.

Ruling on challenges brought by citizens groups, the appeals court held that the NRC did not err in granting a license renewal to the Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station and its operator, Exelon Generation Co. LLC.
