Study: VA Exaggerated Success Of Medical System

Law360 (May 11, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- At a time when soldiers returning from Iraq have put a greater strain on veterans resources, the Department of Veterans Affairs has exaggerated, inflated and in some cases misreported the success of its medical system, a study has found.

The study, authored by Pulitzer Prize nominee Chris Adams and published by McClatchy Newspapers, detailed the way the VA oversold its progress to federal authorities in order to assure them that it had enough resources to care for the ever-growing ranks of veterans.
