PUC Won't Bar Pipeline's Public Utility Application

Law360, New York (May 19, 2011, 7:39 PM EDT) -- The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission reversed a recommendation Thursday to deny public utility status to a proposed 31-mile interstate gas pipeline, saying the commission could enforce environmental agreements that would put the pipeline project within the public interest.

The pipeline's sponsor, Laser Northeast Gathering Company LLC, is seeking to form an extensive system linking potentially hundreds of gas wells in Susquehanna County, Pa., to the Millennium Pipeline in Broome County, N.Y.
