Best Buy Sued By Techshell Over Laptop Case Patents

Law360, New York (May 20, 2011, 2:07 PM EDT) -- Best Buy Co. Inc. was hit in Florida on Thursday with a patent infringement lawsuit by Techshell Inc., becoming the latest target of the laptop case maker's ongoing effort to protect the design for its line of protective computer covers.

The suit accuses the electronics retailer of selling unlicensed knockoffs of the laptop case maker’s snap-on computer covers.

The alleged knockoffs infringe two patents held by Techshell and company founder Haile Bekele, who was "the first person to invent a protective cover for laptop computers," according...
