Wash. Hospital Workers Sue Over Racial Discrimination

Law360, New York (May 20, 2011, 10:25 PM EDT) -- Nine psychiatric security attendants accused a Washington state-run hospital on Thursday of racial discrimination for allegedly catering to a mentally ill patient who refused to be attended by nonwhite hospital employees.

The PSAs, who work in Western State Hospital caring for mentally ill patients, filed the suit in Washington federal court, naming the hospital, the state Department of Social and Health Services and two of the hospital’s directors as defendants.
