US Fights Bid To Speed Up Poultry Antitrust Case

Law360, New York (May 23, 2011, 1:44 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Justice fought back Friday against George's Inc.'s proposed schedule for a lawsuit seeking to undo the company's purchase of a Tyson Foods Inc. chicken processing plant in Virginia, arguing the accelerated pace would be a "rush to judgment."

In its filing, the government argues that George's proposal to speed up the process contains deadlines that simply cannot be met, and seeks to impose an unreasonable schedule that would require all discovery to be completed in less than four weeks.
