UK Lawmakers Say There's No Need To Ban Fracking

Law360, New York (May 24, 2011, 3:28 PM EDT) -- A U.K. parliamentary committee on Monday gave a thumbs up to hydraulic fracturing within the country, concluding that a moratorium on the controversial shale gas drilling method would be unjustified.

The move comes weeks after France's lower house, the National Assembly, voted to ban fracking, which involves injecting a mixture of water, sand and chemicals at high pressure into underground rock formations to extract natural gas. The French Senate has yet to approve the ban.
