Senators Query H-1B Visa Programs

Law360 (May 14, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Senators are looking more closely at how several top technology companies use their special visa programs for skilled employees, amid concerns that employers may be abusing the system to lay off qualified U.S. employees.

Sens. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, and Richard Durbin, D-Ill., said Monday they are querying nine companies, based both in the U.S. and India, which made use of almost 20,000 of the 75,000 H-1B visas available last year.
