GOP Bill Seeks To Curb Federal Enviro Lawsuits

Law360, New York (May 26, 2011, 5:12 PM EDT) -- Republican lawmakers unveiled legislation Wednesday that would put new restrictions on lawsuits filed by environmental groups and nonprofit organizations that challenge land management issues and other federal agency decisions.

Rep. Cynthia Lummis, R-Wyo., and Sen. John Barrasso, R-Wyo., introduced the Government Litigation Savings Act, which seeks to limit what the legislators called reckless and excessive lawsuits by major environmental groups and others that frequently pick legal battles with the federal government.
