OSHA Fines AMD $1.2M For Asbestos Exposure

Law360, New York (May 26, 2011, 3:05 PM EDT) -- Promotional display maker AMD Industries Inc. is facing an almost $1.25 million fine for allegedly exposing untrained and unprotected workers to asbestos, federal workplace safety officials announced Wednesday.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration issued the penalties after learning the Cicero, Ill.-based company had supposedly required five employees to conduct asbestos removal duties without warning them of the risks of the hazardous material or providing the proper safety equipment.
