GCs See Greater Influence, Responsibility: Survey

Law360, New York (May 26, 2011, 5:12 PM EDT) -- Leaders of legal teams in companies around the globe have seen their responsibilities evolve, as they handle more legal matters and increase their influence among company brass, according to a survey released earlier this month.

Interviews with the heads of legal departments from 10 countries describe a general counsel with greater significance within the company, who is increasingly focused on reducing legal risk, maintaining regulatory compliance and negotiating settlements to end disputes, according to the survey from U.K. consulting and auditing firm Deloitte LLP.
