China Reviews Duties On US, Japanese Catechol

Law360, New York (May 26, 2011, 6:13 PM EDT) -- China's Ministry of Commerce said Wednesday it had launched a review of five-year-old anti-dumping duties imposed on imports of the chemical catechol from Japan and the U.S.

According to a statement posted on the ministry's website, the agency is seeking new information from producers and importers in order to determine whether ending the anti-dumping duties imposed in May 2006 would harm Chinese producers of the chemical.

Catechol is used in photography developing, fur dyes and pharmaceutical production, and as an intermediate chemical for antioxidants in rubber...
