ThyssenKrupp Sued Over Escalator Patent

Law360, New York (May 26, 2011, 7:29 PM EDT) -- Finnish elevator and escalator maker Kone Corp. filed a lawsuit in Delaware on Wednesday accusing ThyssenKrupp Elevator Americas Corp. and four other ThyssenKrupp units of infringing a patent covering a system for modernizing escalators.

Kone's complaint targets ThyssenKrupp Elevator Americas, ThyssenKrupp USA Inc., ThyssenKrupp Elevator Corp., ThyssenKrupp Elevator Manufacturing Corp. and ThyssenKrupp Elevator Capital Corp.

Kone is seeking preliminary and permanent injunctive relief, as well as enhanced damages for willful infringement.

"We do not infringe the patent," Eric Scrudders, ThyssenKrupp Elevator Corp.'s general counsel, said Thursday....
