US Lifts Sanctions Early In EU Beef Ban Dispute

Law360, New York (May 27, 2011, 4:23 PM EDT) -- Ahead of schedule, the U.S. on Friday eliminated its remaining retaliatory sanctions on exports from the European Union over the bloc's ban on American hormone-treated beef, following a recent ruling against the duties.

The move comes a little more than a year before the parties were due to further loosen trade restrictions as part of a 2009 settlement in the dispute, the U.S. Trade Representative's Office said in a Federal Register notice Friday.
