Vietnam to Resume Trademark Registrations

Law360, New York (November 5, 2003, 12:00 AM EST) -- Vietnam's National Office of Intellectual Property will resume processing and approving trademark registrations next week, following a bureaucratic stalemate that has paralyzed the agency and led to widespread confusion among trademark owners, Asia Pulse reported Wednesday.

An official told the news agency that brand certificates will be granted to companies beginning next week. But in a reflection of the disarray created by the government's recent policy moves, trademark owners will not be allowed to start legal proceedings against other firms based on their recently registered marks....
