Va. Judge Nixes Ban On Corporate Campaign Donations

Law360, New York (May 27, 2011, 8:31 PM EDT) -- A federal judge in Virginia ruled on Thursday that banning corporations from making direct political contributions to federal campaigns was unconstitutional, jeopardizing key portions of the McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform law.

Galen Capital Group LLC executives William P. Danielczyk Jr. and Eugene R. Biagi were charged in February in connection with an alleged scheme to recruit individual donors and reimburse their contributions to Hillary Clinton's U.S. Senate campaign in 2006 and her presidential campaign in 2008.
