House Bill Seeks To Overhaul Export Controls

Law360, New York (May 31, 2011, 5:03 PM EDT) -- The senior Democrat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee introduced a bill Thursday to overhaul the Export Administration Act for the first time since 1979 as part of the Obama administration's ongoing effort to reform the country's export control system.

Rep. Howard Berman, D-Calif., said in a statement that his bill is aimed at modernizing and strengthening controls on the export of dual-use technology with both civilian and military applications by reworking the outdated system.
