Alcatel Finalizes $92M Settlement In FCPA Case

Law360, New York (June 2, 2011, 10:28 PM EDT) -- A Florida court on Wednesday approved a $92 million Foreign Corrupt Practices Act settlement between French telecommunications company Alcatel-Lucent SA and the U.S. government, rejecting objections by a Costa Rican state-owned utility that had sought victim status and restitution.

Alcatel-Lucent first struck the deal with the U.S. Department of Justice last year, but needed court approval to seal the deferred prosecution agreement ending allegations it bribed government officials around the world to secure business contracts.
