Acorn Capital Boss Gets 18 Years For $25M Ponzi Plot

Law360, New York (June 1, 2011, 7:24 PM EDT) -- A federal judge in Pennsylvania on Tuesday sentenced the former president of Acorn Capital Investment LLC to 17 1/2 years in prison for operating a $25 million Ponzi scheme, tacking on additional time for the defendant’s attempt to mislead investigators.

U.S. District Judge Juan Sanchez sentenced Donald Anthony Young to 210 months and ordered him to pay $21 million in restitution for victims of the fraud. While Young entered a plea agreement in July that established an 11 1/2- to 14-year sentencing guideline, the court increased...
