Advanced Software Scores In Fed. Circ. Patent Fight

Law360, New York (June 2, 2011, 7:25 PM EDT) -- Handing a win to Advanced Software Design Corp., the Federal Circuit on Thursday reversed a ruling that Fiserv Inc.’s Secure Seal check validation system could not infringe on an Advanced Software patent covering a method for guarding against check fraud.

In the Thursday order, the federal appeals court rejected the district court’s finding that in order to infringe on Advanced Software’s U.S. Patent Number 6,792,110, Fiserv would have to use all three steps — encrypting, printing and validating — described by the Advanced Software anti-forgery patent....
