USDA Report Finds Cilantro Tainted With Pesticides

Law360, New York (June 2, 2011, 7:42 PM EDT) -- U.S. Department of Agriculture testing has uncovered a range of pesticides on cilantro, including some that lack federal approval for use on the popular herb, according to a study the agency released late last month.

The USDA’s Pesticide Data Program report, released May 24 and covering calendar year 2009, reveals that domestic and imported cilantro was tainted with at least 43 different pesticides, more than 30 of which lacked tolerance levels set by federal food regulators.
