Hagemeyer Sues CNA Over Silica Claims Coverage

Law360, New York (June 3, 2011, 4:22 PM EDT) -- Safety products company Hagemeyer North America sued insurer CNA Financial Corp. on Thursday in South Carolina, claiming it reneged on a decadeslong deal to cover injury claims related to silica in products sold by Hagemeyer predecessor Vallen Corp.

CNA told Hagemeyer in 2009 that it would abandon a 1984 multi-insurer deal to cover a share of costs of silica suits against it, according to the complaint.
