Fla. Court Backs $16M Verdict In RJ Reynolds Suit

Law360, New York (June 3, 2011, 7:46 PM EDT) -- A Florida appeals court last month backed a reportedly $15.75 million verdict against R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. in favor of a woman whose husband died of lung cancer after smoking for 38 years.

In a one-page opinion issued May 20, the state's First District Court of Appeal affirmed the verdict of the Eighth Judicial Circuit of Florida that awarded punitive and compensatory damages to Amanda Jean Hall, the widow of Arthur Lamar Hall.
