SEC Subpoenas American Tower's Tax Documents

Law360, New York (June 3, 2011, 8:12 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has hit American Tower Corp. with a subpoena for tax-related documents, the Massachusetts-based company announced Friday in a filing with the regulator.

The two-sentence filing said the SEC sent the subpoena Thursday, right before American Tower, owner of broadcast and wireless communication sites, filed another SEC document Friday related to its change in corporate status in order to reduce its corporate tax burden. The SEC requested documents, including those related to tax accounting and reporting, from 2007 to the present....
