Steve Madden Sues Customs Over Sex-Based Duties

Law360, New York (June 6, 2011, 5:29 PM EDT) -- Shoemaker Steve Madden Ltd. filed a lawsuit in the U.S. Court of International Trade on Friday claiming that Customs and Border Protection's assessment of higher duty rates for women's footwear than men's was unconstitutional.

In addition to Steve Madden's suit, footwear and apparel importers Blue Star Imports LP and E.S. Originals Inc. also filed complaints challenging the constitutionality of higher duties for imports of women's footwear.
