AstraZeneca Settles DOL Sex Bias Pay Dispute

Law360, New York (June 6, 2011, 4:42 PM EDT) -- AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals LP agreed Monday to pay $250,000 to settle an administrative suit brought by the U.S. Department of Labor on behalf of 124 saleswomen at a company office in Pennsylvania who were paid less than their male colleagues.

In addition to financial restitution for the employees, AstraZeneca has agreed to a consent decree that requires the pharmaceutical giant to analyze the pay of 415 pharmaceutical sales employees across the country in conjunction with the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs, according to the OFCCP....
