Suit Ensnares "Tough Guy" Firms Over Labor Fight

Law360, New York (May 17, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A Teamsters lawyer who was allegedly assaulted during contract negotiations with another attorney claims Littler Mendelson PC and Duvin Cahn & Hutton LPA are liable for civil damages because they encouraged their employees to act like “tough guys.”

John M. Masters filed the suit last week against the law firms, Steven Sferra, and former Duvin general partner Robert Duvin. Masters claims that during a negotiation session, Sferra “willfully, wantonly, maliciously, recklessly, and intentionally assaulted and battered” Masters.
