3rd Circ. Nixes Investor Win In $5M Carnegie Mellon Suit

Law360, New York (June 7, 2011, 7:04 PM EDT) -- The Third Circuit on Tuesday nixed a lower court's ruling handing a British investor summary judgment on his negligent misrepresentation claim against Carnegie Mellon University, which he sued over $5 million in losses allegedly sustained when a company sponsoring a CMU catalytic processing project folded.

The federal appeals court also vacated and remanded the Pennsylvania district court's ruling dismissing investor Christian Bouriez's fraudulent misrepresentation claim against the university, which the investor claims lied about the status and progress of its research into microwave-enhanced catalytic processing....
