EU Lawmakers Cite Enviro Worries On Canada Trade Deal

Law360, New York (June 8, 2011, 3:10 PM EDT) -- European Union lawmakers on Wednesday applauded progress on a trade agreement with Canada, but worried that Canada's oil tar sands policies, intellectual property rights concerns and a dispute over the bloc's ban on seal trade could trip up the deal.

The European Parliament passed a resolution supporting ongoing negotiations for a Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement with Canada, which European Commission trade officials have said they expect to complete by the end of the year.
