Nuclear Industry Targets Plant Safety After Fukushima

Law360, New York (June 9, 2011, 4:01 PM EDT) -- Nuclear energy leaders unveiled plans Thursday to organize an industrywide response to the crisis at Japan’s Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant earlier this year, in a move aimed at improving U.S. nuclear safety and rebuilding public support.

The Nuclear Energy Institute, the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations, and the Electric Power Research Institute said they would conduct their own review of the Fukushima Daiichi accident and work with utility executives to implement lessons from the plant’s meltdowns in March.
