US Lightens Sentence Request For Quellos Tax Dodger

Law360, New York (June 9, 2011, 5:51 PM EDT) -- Saying convicted attorney Matthew G. Krane has agreed to settle outstanding tax liabilities and repay a victim of the $240 million Quellos Group LLC tax-dodge scheme, prosecutors on Wednesday reduced their sentencing request from 50 months to 36 months.

Krane pled guilty in December 2009 to tax evasion and making false statements in a passport application. Two of his accomplices, Jeffrey Greenstein and Charles Wilk, are in prison in connection with the scheme. Krane is set to be sentenced Friday and currently is free on $2.4...
