Bush Suppports Bipartisan Group’s Immigration Bill

Law360 (May 18, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- President George W. Bush and a bipartisan group of senators have reached an agreement on a comprehensive immigration bill that aims to grant legal status to about 12 million illegal immigrants, strengthen the country’s borders and get tough on employers hiring undocumented workers.

The bill, which would make the most significant changes to the U.S.’s immigration system in more than four decades, was lauded by Bush on Thursday as a way to “meet important goals in addressing border security and enhancing interior and worksite enforcement.”...
