Bill Would Limit Damages On Tax Scheme Patents

Law360, New York (May 18, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Three lawmakers in the House of Representatives have introduced a bill that would limit the damages available for patented tax planning methods.

The measure, introduced by Rep. Rick Boucher (D-Va.) on Thursday, would set boundaries on the amount of damages and remedies that can be awarded for patented tax schemes. It has been referred to the House Committee on the Judiciary.

A spokesman for Boucher did not return a phone call seeking more details about the proposed bill.
