GM Recalls 50K Cadillacs Over Air Bag Issues

Law360, New York (June 10, 2011, 6:28 PM EDT) -- General Motors Co. has recalled nearly 50,000 of its 2011 Cadillac SRX vehicles because a right-side roof-rail air bag is programmed to turn off if the front passenger-side seat is empty, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Friday.

The right roof-rail air bag turns off in the recalled vehicles when the passenger-sensing system determines that the right front seat is unoccupied. The 47,401 Cadillac SRX cars subject to recall are out of compliance with federal safety standards for occupant crash protection.
