PTO Revamps Accelerated Examination Program

Law360, New York (May 18, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has taken a few steps to make its accelerated examination program easier for attorneys and clients.

The PTO added new frequently asked questions to its Web site on Thursday regarding its procedure for a speedier examination of applications that may make the process more straightforward and less costly for applicants.

Under the accelerated examination program, an applicant must submit references that the applicant believe are “most closely related” to the claimed invention.
