Mutual Fund Co. Battles Insurers For More Than $25M

Law360, New York (June 14, 2011, 1:34 PM EDT) -- Affiliates of The Chubb Corp. and Hartford Fire Insurance Co. on Friday took to Pennsylvania federal court a coverage dispute with mutual fund giant Federated Investors Inc., which seeks more than $25 million for litigation over allegedly excessive fees.

Federated initially filed suit against Chubb affiliate Federal Insurance Co. and Hartford affiliate Twin City Fire Insurance Co. in Pennsylvania state court in late May, claiming the excess insurers unlawfully refused to cover the costs of defending and settling six lawsuits that have been consolidated into one...
