FDA Warns Matrixx Over Zicam Marketing

Law360, New York (June 14, 2011, 6:18 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration revealed Tuesday that it had warned Matrixx Initiatives Inc. over the company's marketing of two Zicam products as cold remedies without the agency's approval.

Zicam Cold Remedy RapidMelts with Vitamin C and Zicam Cold Remedy RapidMelts with Vitamin C and Echinacea violate the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act because the products are not approved for sale as drugs, according to a warning letter the agency sent the company on June 3.
