House Panel Backs Bill To Speed Up Keystone Pipeline

Law360, New York (June 15, 2011, 7:05 PM EDT) -- A U.S. House of Representatives panel approved legislation Wednesday that would speed up the permitting of a planned $13 billion pipeline to carry crude oil from Canada to refineries in the United States.

In a voice vote, the House subcommittee on energy and power passed the North American-Made Energy Security Act, H.R. 1938, which would force the U.S. Department of Energy to take action on the Keystone XL pipeline’s presidential permit by Nov. 1.
