Peru OKs Green Reforms As Part Of US Trade Deal

Law360, New York (June 17, 2011, 5:04 PM EDT) -- U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk on Thursday praised the Peruvian government for implementing environmental provisions in a trade agreement with the U.S. by passing reforms that tackle illegal logging and illegal trade in wildlife.

The U.S.-Peru Trade Promotion Agreement is the first U.S. trade agreement to require a specific action to address environmental concerns — in this case, the improvement of forest sector governance.
