Greenpeace Head Jailed In Arctic Drilling Protest

Law360, New York (June 17, 2011, 5:06 PM EDT) -- Greenpeace International's executive director was jailed Friday after climbing aboard Cairn Energy PLC’s drilling rig off the shore of Greenland in defiance of a Dutch injunction ordering the group to stay away from the rig.

Director Kumi Naidoo and another Greenpeace activist, Ulvar Arnkvaern, became the 21st and 22nd activists to be arrested during the group's seven-week protest. Cairn plans to drill up to four wells in the Arctic Ocean over the summer, and the environmental group has opposed the drilling until Cairn publishes its oil...
