Skadden Reps Dentsply In $1.8B AstraZeneca Unit Buy

Law360, New York (June 22, 2011, 1:10 PM EDT) -- Dentsply International Inc. announced Wednesday that it had agreed to purchase drug giant AstraZeneca PLC's dental implant unit Astra Tech for $1.8 billion in a deal that will see the dental supply company expand into the urology sphere.

Astra Tech is a leading developer, manufacturer and marketer of dental implants and customized implant abutments, and will allow Dentsply to expand its offerings in computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing dentistry. CAD/CAM dentistry is used to create specially fitted crowns and other dental implants.
