BOEMRE: No Rules Planned For Offshore Contractors

Law360, New York (June 23, 2011, 5:35 PM EDT) -- The director of the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement said Wednesday the agency had no plans to draft new rules for specifically punishing negligent offshore drilling contractors.

BOEMRE Director Michael Bromwich highlighted a number of new regulations to improve government oversight of offshore drilling at the World National Oil Companies Congress in London, but said BOEMRE had no plans for now to develop special rules for drilling contractors.
